perspective shift aid

July 26, 2011

There are so many horrible things reported via the media (to which most largely ignore, as there are more important things to do such as watch Real Housewives or Teen Mom….), it’s difficult to remember there are actually really good things, done by really good people happening all the time.  I wish the media would report a bit more of the really great things going on.  It is possible — I know the edgier death and tragedy stuff is ‘sexier’, but I remember reading stuff in Australia about cats getting rescued out of trees.  That’s a bit much, but I clearly remember a smile on my face.  That may have been the last time I smiled while reading the newspaper.

I’d love to put together some magazine or newspaper or book with all great, happy, uplifting, positive stories about mankind — to serve as a daily reminder of all the positive out there.  To serve as a reminder that people truly are good at heart and the world is a beautiful place.

It is people who shape and give meaning to our lives.  So, with all the negativity spewing forth depicting the very worst on the spectrum of human capabilities it isn’t difficult to comprehend why the world seems such a dark place.  Perhaps, if the very best of the human spirit were highlighted, the general perspective of the world and others would shift; however slightly.  Media can and should act toward this direction: a perspective shift aid.
